This is a very thoughtful analysis of current social events. Thank you for writing this, David. It explains how a lot of people feel in a succinct and non-threatening manner. Great post.

I asked chatGPT if this how racist this article was and it said it was only 8/10, so you have some room to go further next time.

"If you want a rough scale: 8/10 racist. It avoids crude slurs and doesn’t claim individual South Asians are inferior, but its policy principle is essentially: even perfectly assimilated non-European Americans are undesirable in sufficient numbers because they make the European-descended population a smaller share of the country. That’s much more than a dog whistle; it’s basically the thesis."

I wish this post was available, free, under a non-investment heading on Substack.

Many, many people need to read this, as you've captured the underlying dismay and growing anger being experienced by millions of Americans whose families built this nation over the past two centuries.

I don't disagree with this article, but it's missing some important context. "The American constitutional order arose from British legal and political traditions transplanted by European settlers." That's true. However, those traditions are the direct result of Europe's Christian heritage, which the West has largely abandoned. Any discussion of restoring those traditions and the constitutional order the US has abandoned can't take place without discussing that heritage. It's not realistic to expect one to be restored without the other. The West has essentially lost its soul, so it's not surprising it has also lost the will to uphold the legal and political traditions it used to have and to defend itself against outside attack.
