Today’s Top Names Trades

Today’s two trades come from Portfolio Armor’s current top names list. As a reminder, these rankings are based on our system’s estimates of potential returns over the next six months. Since we updated our security selection process in 2022, those top names have averaged strong outperformance versus the market (you can see the historical track record here).

To put that in context: the cohort of top names selected on March 20th, 2025 just finished its six-month run. As you can see from the chart below, that group delivered an average return of 85.55%, versus 17.27% for the S&P 500 over the same period.

That kind of performance illustrates both the power and the challenge of trading these names. With some of the biggest winners in that March cohort—stocks that tripled or more over six months—the problem for options traders is that calls are often extremely expensive. Even if you use use vertical spreads capped at the options market’s implied estimate of the stock’s expected movement (the at-the-money straddle), you can end up leaving a lot of upside on the table.
